Unplanned can often be beautiful

I recently welcomed Eric back into my studio just in time to celebrate his first birthday this week. He wasn’t too sure to start with – after all meeting some crazy redhead with a camera can be unnerving at the best of times but add a face mask into that mix and I can see why little one’s are confused.

I always plan in extra time for sessions as expect little ones to need a bit of time to get used to their new surroundings and to relax. Once Eric did relax his cheeky side came out – it was like he deliberately ran to the edge of the paper to smile at me knowing I couldn’t get a decent shot of him there! LOL! I think he was getting his own back for his last photoshoot with me when he was 5 weeks old – you can see his sneak peek here.

During a session I always have a plan set out (often a plan A, B and C – you can never be sure when working with children) but sometimes it is the unplanned, candid moments that steel the show. This was very true for Eric’s baby photos as you can see here.

This moment was captured when Eric needed a bit of Mummy time and she was playing with him, bouncing him up and down. I was quick to change the lighting and grabbed a couple of candid moments showing the beautiful relationship between mother and child.
