A special helmet for a special boy

Today I had the honour of meeting little Tommy, to take his baby photos, who at 8mths has just been fitted with a helmet as he has plagiochephaly (flatness on one side of the head).

Shockingly the NHS will not help fund these helmets as it’s seen as ‘cosmetic treatment’ but thanks to the power of the people Tommy’s Mummy was able to secure enough donations to pay for private treatment.

Tommy has to wear the helmet 23hrs a day but as you can see he really doesn’t mind too much and is still such happy little chap. Hopefully within 6-9mths the treatment will have worked and his little head will be correctly shaped forever more.
