Hampshire baby photographer – Joshua’s portrait session

One of the things I love about photographing babies is being able to create beautiful, timeless images that can be hung on the wall for years to come.  That was certainly what I was able to do when Joshua came to see me for his baby photos.

Joshua was born on valentines day and is certainly as sweet as can be.  He wasn’t too sure of what was going on and really just wanted to get his chubby little hands on the camera.  He had a few different outfit changes, including a special nautical outfit that Grandma had bought him.  However he was truly happiest once he got naked and managed to only pee once!

Parents always hope to capture smiles and giggles and as nice as they can be I totally love the more serious faces as they make for beautiful images as you can see in these photos from Joshua’s session.

Portsmouth baby photographer – Freddie’s cake smash

What a busy week I have had!  Last Monday I had the gorgeous little Freddie in for a cake smash to celebrate his first birthday before I whisked off on a short trip to visit family in Cumbria.

Freddie had all of us in absolute hysterics during his cake smash.  He started out being incredibly serious during his portrait shots but when the cake came out he totally changed! He went from being oh so serious to squealing with delight and flinging cake everywhere. He also really loved his bubble bath and didn’t want to get out despite being completely exhausted from all the fun.

Portsmouth baby photography – Fraser’s milk bath

The loveliest part of my job is when I get to see how these beautiful little people grow and develop, and so it’s a real treat for me when a baby I photographed as a newborn comes back to see me.

That was exactly what happened this weekend when Fraser came to see me for a milk bath photoshoot.  I last saw Fraser when he was just 3wks old – you can see his newborn photo here.  So it was lovely to welcome him back into the studio as a one year old, full of character and energy.

Fraser really enjoyed his milk bath which I adapted for him as he is lactose intolerant.  He managed to soak the entire studio floor but luckily not me!

Baby milk bath photoshoots are a really fun way of capturing your little one at any age from when they can sit up unassisted.  Get in contact to book yours now.

Hampshire newborn baby photography – Evelyn’s portrait session

As an artist there is nothing nicer than when a client walks in and says they love everything you do and trust your artistic judgement to create beautiful images for them.  It means I can use new props or try set-ups I haven’t done before, and that always results in unique images.

This weekend I had the pleasure of just such a client when Evelyn came to see me at 13 days new for her newborn photos.  Evelyn is a very much wanted and long awaited baby for her Mummy and Daddy, and they were just thrilled to be having a newborn session for their precious little girl.  It took Evelyn a little while to settle but once she did she slept through her entire session, only waking up for a quick feed in the middle.

Evelyn’s Mummy was happy to try anything and I was delighted when she said she’d like to use the dark wood backdrop.  I adore these darker more earthy pictures and love when clients want to use them as I feel they just add so much depth to the image.  The wood backdrop combined with my rustic dough bowl and real fur (a by-product of the meat trade) makes for a stunning image which will look fantastic framed.

Hampshire baby photographer – Max & Jacob’s cake smash

Today was a mixture of excitement and sadness as one of my favourite families came into the studio.  It was excitement to be celebrating Max and Jacob’s first birthday with a cake smash but sadness as this is the last session in their Watch Me Grow package.

I have got to know this little family since 2014 when I first met their big brother Charlie and photographed him as a newborn, 7mths and first birthday.  I was delighted when Claire and Karl got in touch to give me the good news that they were expecting again, and even more delighted to hear it was twins! I have simply loved watching these boys grow up over the last few years and it has been an honour to document their first years.

For Max and Jacob’s cake smash they opted for a space theme to match their nursery.  I love creating themed cake smash photoshoots for people as it makes it truly personal.  So I found space bunting, a wooden rocket and of course star balloons.  My cake maker created two beautiful cakes that not only complemented each other but reflected the individuality of the two boys.  The boys are as different in personality as they are in looks – Jacob wasn’t too sure about all the mess while Max got stuck right in!
