Hampshire newborn baby photography – editing baby skin

There’s nothing nicer than baby soft skin, but very rarely does a newborn baby have perfect skin when they first arrive.
They are normally blotchy with patches of red and yellow, they can have bruises from birth or have scratched themselves with those wicked sharp little nails, they may be jaundiced, they often have dry flaky skin and can have baby acne. Many of the new parents who come to see me are worried about all these things and how they’ll look in their photos.
One of the reasons to book with a professional newborn photographer, like myself, is that I have the skill and experience to deal with all of these things to make sure that your little one looks just perfect for their photos.
If you’d like to find out more about how I can help capture beautiful images of your little one please drop me a message.

Hampshire newborn baby photography – Fleur’s portrait session

After a lovely rest over Christmas enjoying my first Christmas with my little boy it was back into the studio today with the gorgeous baby Fleur.

Fleur arrived on New Year’s Day and is a perfect little dink, and much loved by her three big sisters.  Fleur took quite a while to drop off to sleep but when she did she was an absolute star and completely rocked her photoshoot.  Her Mummy was a bit worried as Fleur has very severe baby acne, but after I’ve worked my Photoshop magic she’ll look just beautiful.  Parents are often worried about baby acne, flaky skin, jaundice, scratches and bruises, but there isn’t much I can’t make disappear.

Fleur’s Mummy chose one of my favourite props – my giant teak root bowl.  I love using this prop as it’s so organic, and loved that Fleur’s Mummy didn’t want to go for the stereo-typical pink.  I think you’ll agree that this is going to look stunning on any wall!

Happy New Year!

Well for me 2017 has been a roller coaster year!  We have lost some special members of the family this year and gained two new ones – my little boy being one of them.  This time last year I was sat here sporting a very lovely bump, enjoying lie-ins and lazy Sunday afternoons in front of the TV.  How a year has changed all of that!

Becoming a Mummy has by far been the best thing I have ever done – although don’t ask me to repeat that at 2am!  I have surprised myself at just how strong I can be both physically and mentally, and have been thrilled at how it has brought me and my partner closer than we ever thought it could.  Oscar is already 7mths and I can’t believe how much he has changed in that short time.

This year I have also been privileged to capture memories for so many families – some returning clients who are now more like friends, and some new.  I have loved all the newborn cuddles, the cake smash and milk bath mess, the Christmas minis and the sitter sessions.  I just love when babies come back for a number of photoshoots over their first year and I get to see how they are growing and changing.  Here is just a few of the photoshoots I have done this year.

So here I am now looking forward to 2018 and to meeting lots of new little faces.  I hope that 2018 brings health and happiness to you and your family!

Merry Christmas – waiting for Santa window photos

Well with a week to go to the big day it’s time for me to hang up the camera, put on my Christmas socks and Santa hat, and get wrapping up all those presents!

For me this will be a very special Christmas as it will be the first with my little boy!  To say we’re excited is an understatement.  Of course to celebrate our first Christmas I had to create something special for my family Christmas cards this year, and couldn’t resist having a go at the Waiting for Santa window photo (and of course the Snowman window too).

Whatever you are doing this Christmas I hope you have a wonderful one – especially to all those families also celebrating their first Christmas.  I hope 2018 brings all you can wish for and I look forward to meeting lots of new little people next year!

Portsmouth baby photography – Maxime’s Christmas mini

Yesterday I completed my very last Christmas mini session for this year.  I thought I had finished them a couple of weeks ago but then at the last minute Maxime’s Mummy asked me to squeeze him in.

Maxime was fast asleep when he arrived so it took a little while for him to warm up to the session but once he did we got lots of beautiful smiles and he seemed to really enjoy himself.  Of course like all boys the bit he loved best was the naked photos, and he also enjoyed playing with my Santa polar bear.
