About newborn photoshoots

When a baby is first born it is such a special time for all the family and a newborn photoshoot is the perfect way to capture those magic moments.

Whether this is your first baby or not I understand the stress, fatigue and emotions that those first few days at home bring. Sessions are held in my cosy home studio in Portsmouth so that you have full use of all of my props (beds, baskets, crates etc).  Also by coming to me it doesn’t matter if you haven’t done your housework as you can come to me leaving all that behind, sit back, relax and watch the session.

All sessions are determined by baby, as babies are little people with their own likes and dislikes. Not all babies will be happy to do every pose/shot, and if baby wants to take a break to feed then we take a break. I’ll work with you and your baby to have a successful session.

I usually start the session by posing baby on his/her own (know as the beanbag shots), and I’ll ask you what colours you would like me to use.  I also have a variety of hats and headbands, and again I’ll ask you what you do and don’t like.

After the beanbag shots, we then move onto using the props.  I have a range of props including; crates, vintage suitcase, wooden bowls, baskets and a newborn bed. I will recommend which ones your baby is most likely to be happy in.

Parent and/or sibling shots can be accommodated but please advise me in advance of the session.  I have a lot of experience working with siblings and can usually bring even shy children out of their shell to help capture a portrait you’ll treasure forever.

Sibling montage

Most sessions take around 3-4 hours but if baby wants to take slightly longer then that’s fine – they call the shots!

Approximately 3 weeks after the session your images will be ready to view. I will arrange a convenient day/time for you to view the images and to talk you through which images and/or products you would like. However please be assured I do not do hard selling. If grandparents, aunts, uncles etc would also like to come to the viewing they are more than welcome.
